Late 2019 was a particularly busy time for the National Boys Choir of Australia. It started in November when a selection of Performing Choristers sang with the MSO for two performances of Humperdinck’s Hansel & Gretel under Sir Andrew Davis. The boys were commended for their ability to participate in a strong schedule of rehearsals and in the lead-up, all while performing the fairy tale in German. Another group of boys performed at Morning Melodies, as well as at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club for the More Than Opera series.

In between the flurry of performances and extensive rehearsals, a small team of our senior Performing boys were invited to perform live on ABC774’s morning show with Virginia Trioli. The boys showcased a few of Virginia’s Christmas favourites including Good King Wenceslas and Silent Night plus O come, all ye faithful. What a delight for the boys to perform in the atrium of ABC studios in Southbank. Come Christmas Eve, selected boys were ready for their appearance at Carols By Candlelight; the star atop the NBCA’s Christmas tree of performances. Harry Hendel also secured the solo role in The Snowman at Melbourne Recital Centre. Harry did the Choir proud and we are very pleased to be called upon to provide a soloist in this annual performance.

The National Boys Choir of Australia acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which we rehearse and work. We pay respect to their elders past, present and emerging.
