In early August, Mr Rex Wenn announced his retirement as President. Rex has been associated with the Choir for at least 38 years. His three sons sang in the Choir, (Cameron was Choir Captain in 1986), and Rex was President for 17 years. We thank Rex for his outstanding contribution to the NBCA over such a long period and wish him well in his retirement.

The NBCA has since appointed Mr Keith Mortimer as President. Keith has been a member of the National Boys Choir of Australia for the greater part of his life, as a chorister and Choir Captain in 1985 as well as a long-serving member of the old boys. He participated in numerous regional tours and was fortunate to enjoy two overseas experiences with the choir in 1979 and 1983. He also chaired the 50th Anniversary committee of the Choir that conducted events to mark this milestone in 2014. Keith joined the NBCA Board of Management in 2016 and served as its Secretary for the last two years. Professionally, Keith is an Accountant who has spent the majority of his career within industries that deliver a social benefit, namely recycling, health and community services, and is currently CEO of a disability support organisation. Regarding his appointment to President: “I am delighted to take on the role of President of the NBCA in these particularly challenging times. I am passionate about this organisation and its proud tradition of, not only developing a love of music but also developing many other life qualities in young men. I acknowledge the exemplary contribution of Rex Wenn in his 38 years of dedicated service that has shaped the lives of many young and now not-so-young men.”

The National Boys Choir of Australia acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which we rehearse and work. We pay respect to their elders past, present and emerging.
