NBCA was delighted to be part of the first Melbourne Symphony Orchestra concert in the refurbished Hamer Hall where the orchestra were joined by the MSO Chorus and the boys, with former Chief Conductor Markus Stenz returning to conduct.

Thanks to the hall’s vastly improved acoustics,…individual timbres are now better delineated ….orchestral sound no longer remains earthbound as it did before.

It was clear that the acoustics were delivering the sound that had kept audiences waiting patiently for two years to hear, …. bringing contrasting movements and new experiences of the sound in the Hall. ….in the fifth movement, the boys’ choir sounded bell-like, the women appeared to be another section of the orchestra as all combined to create a sound that was more about heaven than earth….

The National Boys Choir of Australia acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which we rehearse and work. We pay respect to their elders past, present and emerging.
