It was a pleasure for the boys to sing  the world premiere of the Todd McNeal De La Mare songs in the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall at the Melbourne Recital Centre.   McNeal’s love of children’s literature – claiming they get all the best books, filled with exciting stories with real adventure and proper poems that rhyme and are funny or moving – led to the setting of Walter De La Mare’s peoms to music.  McNeal was quick to praise,

“It was wonderful to hand the songs over knowing they would be done well and I was not disappointed.  I’d say the performances were spot on – accurate, musical, dramatic and with room to breathe”.  Todd McNeal

The programme was varied and offered a little something for everyone – featuring Gabriel Fauré’s Mess Basse, and works from Johann M Haydn, J S Bach, Songs from Les Choristers, River, and selections from Oliver.

The National Boys Choir of Australia acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which we rehearse and work. We pay respect to their elders past, present and emerging.
