This has become an exciting gig on the Choir calendar.  In January, eighteen boys and three staff flew out for the States to participate in the ever growing promotion of Australia in the USA.  Each year the boys, with children from the Australian Girls and Gondwana Indigenous Children’s Choirs, begin their ‘tour’ in Los Angeles singing at the prestigious Black Tie Dinner.  This function is attended by many of the notable Australian Hollywood names and other expat Aussies who have made the USA home.

This year’s line-up of notables included Rove McManus, Curtis Stone, Wolfgang Puck, Roy Emerson, Barry Gibb, Abbie Cornish, Guy Sebastian…and then there was the stream of celebs who paraded on the red carpet as the boys welcomed guests….Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, Simon Baker, John Travolta,  Jon Voight, Olivia Newton-John and André Agassi  to name a few.

The fortnight of ‘all things Oz’ is growing and rapidly gaining support further afield from the major hot spots of Los Angeles and New York.  The boys also performed to an enthusiastic crowd in Houston, Texas.

All work and no play does not make for an exciting performance, therefore the boys were treated to some extra-curricular activities that included a trip to Disneyland in LA, Billy Elliot on Broadway and a snowball fight in Central Park, New York!

The National Boys Choir of Australia acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which we rehearse and work. We pay respect to their elders past, present and emerging.
