Unfortunately, the time has come to say farewell to one of our elder statesmen.

Colin Seedy has been a familiar face around the NBCA headquarters for almost a quarter of a century. An accountant by trade, he has guided the financials of the choir for just over 23 years (more than a third of its lifetime) and as Board Chair Keith Mortimer says: “Colin’s expertise has seen us through many a rainy day!” Colin’s experience, business acumen and personal integrity have done much to set the choir on its current solid financial foundation.

Besides his accounting talent, Colin is well-known for being a passionate sportsman. Competition squash was a major interest for many years, as was cycling. An argument however, with a four-wheel drive, extinguished his love of his cycling pastime. Armchair sports, in front of the TV, occupied much of Colin’s time too. If he wasn’t participating in a sport, he’d lend his voice and encouragement to the many young Aussies competing in major sports events overseas.

Colin loves his sport, but not nearly as much as his family. You might have seen him on the sidelines over the years cheering on his grandkids, nieces and nephews, and local children he knew as they put their hearts and souls into the sports of their choice. He likes nothing more than to “bump into” retired choristers, chatting and reminiscing about tours and concerts past.

It’s not just the staff and board members who will miss Colin, but the many choristers whom he has supported over the years will also be sad to see him go.

So, from all of us here at the NBCA, we wish you all the best for your next venture and say a huge THANK YOU for your friendship, and all your help, skill and interest, dedication and unsurpassed service.

Go well Colin, you will be sorely missed.

The National Boys Choir of Australia acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which we rehearse and work. We pay respect to their elders past, present and emerging.
