The National Boys Choir of Australia prides itself on being one of the finest boys’ choirs in the world. When individual choristers are then chosen to perform with the likes of Opera Australia and Melbourne Opera the NBCA has every reason to feel so proud.

Isaac Pearson and Harry Hendel were selected to perform in Opera Australia’s season of La Boheme at the State Theatre in May this year. It was also the choristers’ first venture into professional theatre.

The NBCA’s extensive relationship with Melbourne Opera has proven fruitful over the years. In mid-August, we saw Harry perform yet again, in the opening weekend of Tannhäuser at the Regent Theatre. Harry sang the role of the Shepherd Boy, and fellow chorister, Isaac, was his understudy. Such an honour for both choristers to be selected by these esteemed opera groups, and a testament to the work of the NBCA choir staff in the training of these young voices.

The National Boys Choir of Australia acknowledges the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which we rehearse and work. We pay respect to their elders past, present and emerging.
