G’Day USA is an annual celebration of everything Australian in the US. In seven years it has successfully tapped into the Australia-United States relationship to change perceptions of Australia in America and to strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
G’Day is now one of the most effective national promotions held anywhere in the world and the National Boys Choir of Australia is proud to be a regular feature on the program.
This year’s activities were restricted to Los Angeles only but it didn’t stop the enthusiasm and adrenalin that drives the boys during a quick five day turn around.
On the Red Carpet!
Despite boys giving up part of their summer holidays we are never short of willing choristers for this prestigious gig.
All selected boys are expected to learn a substantial repertoire over the Christmas period, turn up for an all day rehearsal 24 hours before departure – this year they met up with children from AGC and Gondwana – and round off the performance with the added dimension of choreography!
The Black Tie Gala Dinner is the highlight of the trip where a galaxy of Aussie stars appear in support of everything Australian. This year’s dinner was prepared by celebrity chefs Curtis Stone, Pete Evans and Wolfgang Puck. Greg Norman, Simon Baker and Toni Collette picked up awards and the boys are chuffed to say they shared the stage with the likes of John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John, Jimmy Barnes, Jennifer Hawkins, Nicole Kidman and Cameron Diaz just to mention a few!

Of course a trip to the States just isn’t complete without a theme park visit –Universal Studios was the popular choice this year before flying back home.
