Sunday 17 December

Concert Venue The Arts Centre Melbourne, Hamer Hall

100 St Kilda Road see map (Melway Ref:  1D U3)

Rehearsal morning

Arrive:  9.30am Hamer Hall Stage Door –

At the rear of the building – if you are standing on St.Kilda Road, follow the path on the left hand side of the building, you can’t miss Stage Door at the rear on Southgate Ave off City Rd.

Parents are not permitted past Stage Door – the boys will be met by a staff member and taken backstage.

Wear: Casual clothes (as you would for regular rehearsal)

Bring: this is the tricky bit … a change of clothes for the evening (trousers and shirt).  We recommend the change of clothes be carried in the numbered calico bag that the stagewear will be sent home in – this eliminates the possibility of your forgetting to return the calico bag.

Choristers will change out of their stagewear gear after their performance in the evening before they join their family at interval. Boys will not need to bring their music.

Depart: 11am from Stage Door

Please remember that the boys will require a seat for this concert – they will sing in the first half and then join parents and family in the audience for the second half of the program.

Their complimentary ticket can be redeemed when you purchase your concert tickets. This means the boys will sit with you and not with some random in the audience. (The Arts Centre Box Office 1300 182 183 has a list of your names so they will know what you’re on about when you phone).

Performance – evening

Arrive Promptly: 6.30pm at Stage Door to meet with Mrs Boemo, Ms Brook or Mr Taylor. You will be taken as a group to your allocated dressing area.

Wear:

      • White performance shirt (ironed)
      • Black stage wear trousers
      • Black belt – provided by chorister –  plain black, no big showy buckle J
      • Black socks and clean polished black shoes and
      • Bow ties will be distributed prior to the performance

Bring:  Smile and enthusiasm!

Parents to collect: Beginning of interval on the lower stalls level outside Door 1.

Boys will join their parents for the second part of the concert (this is why you needed the complimentary ticket)

Depart: At the conclusion of the concert.

IMPORTANT – there is to be NO photography or videoing during the concert.  There will be an archival photographer present and photos can be purchased next year.

WARDROBE/PRESENTATION

The Choir encourages the boys to take pride in their appearance and uniform, particularly when they are representing the Choir in a public space.

We take care to ensure the uniform fits well and shoes are shined etc.  With this in mind can you pleeeeease introduce your boys to a brush or comb before the concert?

The boys use their eyes for expression when singing, but the Staff often has difficulty seeing some of their gorgeous peepers behind a hedge of hair!

HOMEWORK

  • Words, words, words! Mrs Boemo and Miss Brook can’t stress this enough.
  • All words must be memorised for the November 29 combined rehearsal.
  • Practice folding trousers (pretend with your pj pants)
  • Practice doing-up and undoing buttons

Can you help?

We are on the look-out for one ‘shirt washer’ to launder the shirts after the NBCA Christmas Concert.

We provide laundry soap – for front or top loader – hangers for the shirts, and a names list to mark them off.  Please let us know – 9872 4480 or on email at office@nationalboyschoir.com.au if you can assist with this.

The Junior boys will be singing.

Choristers will be getting a red t-shirt and black trousers in their calico bags which will be going home next week, November 29. Some t-shirts will have stars, some will not. Red t-shirt needs to be ironed inside out (so as not to smudge the star!) prior to the performance evening.
