New to the NBCA was an invitation to participate in the Christmas Party for Special Children. The idea of the party was born out of a request from The United Nations, in 1979, to help celebrate the International Year of the Child. The Melbourne party began in 1994 and has provided an opportunity for nearly 100,000 children to share the magic of the Festive Season with a bigger group than their immediate family and carers.
December is a busy month for the Choir and it was going to be difficult for the Performing Choir to squeeze the gig into an already tight schedule, so the decision was made to have the Junior Choir attend on Sunday 13th. The younger boys rose to the occasion and what fun for everyone – performers and guests. There were two brackets of songs ably led by Alexandra Boemo and Ruth Tenace and some guest singing by Mandy Lyn Brook. The boys were surprised to each receive a show bag of goodies and refreshments as thanks for their contribution to the day and they all agreed it was a privilege to participate.
